  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping,
  • thawed 1 package 36 Golden Oreo cookies,
  • divided 4 tablespoons butter,
  • melted (1 ounce) 3 cups softened vanilla ice cream
  • 3 cups coarsely crushed freeze-dried strawberries
  • 5 cups softened strawberry ice cream
  • Optional: fresh strawberries

  1. Combine the strawberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, and continue to cook until the berries are softened.
  3. Using an immersion blender, puree the mixture in the pan (or mash with a potato mashed for a chunkier texture).
  4. Combine the cream and corn starch in a mixing bowl.
  5. To slightly thicken the strawberry sauce, stir in a tablespoon of cornstarch.
  6. Set aside in a medium bowl to cool to room temperature (this can be done the day before, or use the fridge or freezer to speed up the process).
